Almost everyone can remember being told to finish their vegetables at dinner. People who find it almost impossible to eat enough fruits and vegetables often find that drinking juice is a much easier way to get those nutrients.
If you are preparing a drink of dark, leafy greens, be sure to add some cucumber. While leafy greens are rich in nutrients, they don’t make for the tastiest of juices. Cucumber masks the taste and adds refreshing flavor to the drink. Additionally, there are many vitamins and minerals in cucumbers, particularly if you eat the skin.
Leafy greens, such as kale or spinach, are among the healthiest ingredients for juicing. Include at least half and as much as three-quarters green ingredients in your juices, then add a little bit of a sweeter ingredient like fruit to give flavor. You will find that juice extracted from fruit contains more sugar and is less beneficial than that extracted from green vegetables.
Think of your juice as a whole meal. A single glass of juice can really contain quite a bit of food. Consume the juice separate from your meals, because the nutrients will enter your bloodstream faster that way.
Put color in the equation. Fruits and vegetables come in practically every color of the rainbow and each color is associated with specific minerals and other nutrients. Different colored juices provide different taste and nutritional experiences.
It is possible to make a big batch of juice to store in your refrigerator. Brown or off-colored juice is less than appetizing. A squeeze or two of lemon juice will keep the juice looking nice. As long as you don’t add too much lemon juice, the taste will not be affected, and the juice will look fresh.
Choose a juicer that you can easily take apart and clean. If you have to spend an excessive amount of time cleaning, assembling and operating your juicer, you are more likely to abandon your juicing program. Make sure that you clean your juicer immediately, before the pulp has had time to dry and harden.
Including cranberries in the juices you produce is an excellent way to enhance bladder health. The sooner you decide to use cranberries, the better off you’ll be.
You probably want to only juice vegetables if you have diabetes or hypoglycemia; either way, consult with your doctor to see what you should be doing. Fruit juice could make your sugar level rise rapidly. Keep track of the amount of fruit you add to your juices so you can regulate your sugar intake. You can get a full dose of essential nutrients through vegetables alone without the risk fruits may pose to some.
